We were holidaying in the area and unfortunately our little boy became very poorly very quickly with croup, meaning we had a stay in hospital.
Our care from start to finish was exemplary, and we could not have asked for better. Nothing was too much trouble, we rarely had to use our buzzer as we were so frequently checked in on, and everyone was friendly, professional and so caring.
A special thank you to:
The ambulance crew, Helen & Ben, who transferred us so quickly and kept us calm in the middle of the night in a very scary situation.
Emma in the children’s A+E, (what a lovely facility too!), who was a friendly and reassuring face when we arrived.
Julie, Ellie and Caroline on the children’s ward who cared for all three of us so well during our stay and who we couldn’t have asked for more of. Their skill and experience was obvious in how they treated our son, and they were so engaged and on the ball every step of the way.
Oliver, Adam and Sarah (and the rest of the medical team) who made very decisive and sound judgments in treating our boy, whilst keeping us informed and involving us in his care and checking in very regularly.
My son has a dairy allergy, and the options for his meals, as well as the knowledge of the staff on the ward, was excellent. This may seem like a small detail given how unwell he was, but it matters a huge deal as a parent.
Being away from home and having your child so unwell is a daunting prospect, but knowing this is the standard of care waiting is a huge relief. Working in the NHS myself, I understand the pressures of a busy ward and service, yet not once did we ever feel this as service users - we knew our son was in excellent hands.
"Incredible care from start to finish"
