"Unlabelled medication supply"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Endocrinology

(as a relative),

At an endocrinology appointment last week my mother received a ziplock packet containing 3 capsules.  There was no label detailing the drug name,  strength or dosage. She was not supplied with a patient information leaflet for the drug, only a general information leaflet on osteoporosis and the verbal instruction to take 2 capsules that night. It is unclear why she was given 3 capsules.

I wish to bring this to the attention of the pharmacy team who oversee medicine supply within the Queen Elizabeth hospital to ensure this practice does not continue. A more appropriate supply would be either a prepack of the medicine supplied directly from the endocrinology department or a prescription to be dispensed at a pharmacy.

Dear Medicine Reporter

Thank you for getting in touch via Care Opinion and bringing this to our attention. I would like to apologise that this has happened to your mother. I have shared this with the Pharmacy Team and it would be helpful if you could contact us with your mother’s details (name and date of birth) so that we can investigate this further. If you could email PatientExperience@ggc.scot.nhs.uk

Please pass on my apologies to your Mother.

Thank you

Nicole
