"Hard work from excellent doctors and nursing staff."

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I unfortunately needed emergency care at Wishaw accident and emergency this week due to a cauda equina. I was given a note from my doctor to take to accident and emergency.

I had a long wait of 18 hours due to needing an MRI scan which is not performed throughout the night. I was in a lot of pain and my symptoms continued to worsen. After having the MRI things speeded up as I needed urgent care as my condition was acute. I needed to be transferred to neurology at the QEUH for an urgent operation.

While waiting to be transferred I was sent to ward 15 where I received outstanding care was looked after by the best team and especially one nurse.  The care and attention continued in this ward until I was transferred.

I would like to thank everyone involved in my care for their hard work and diligence and their specialist experience. I would like to say I appreciate all the hard work being done by our excellent doctors and nursing staff.

Well done and thanks again for your care and attention.

Dear A. Sat,

Thank you for sharing your recent experience on Care Opinion in University Hospital Wishaw, Emergency Care and Trauma and Orthopaedics wards.

I am so sorry to hear about the cauda equina which caused you to need to attend the emergency department. It must have been such a worrying time for you. I am sorry to hear about your long wait for the MRI scan. I am so pleased that all the staff involved in your care were very knowledgeable, and gave you the best care and attention.

It is great encouragement for our staff to feel recognised and I will be sure to pass on you feedback and kind words to the whole team who I am sure will be delighted to hear how their support and compassion have made this as positive experience as it could be.

I hope you are recovering well.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
