"Has restored my faith in the NHS"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Respiratory Medicine (Ward 17)

(as a relative),

Our dad was admitted to ward 17 at Monklands with lung cancer which had spread.

The nursing staff were amazing and so professional. They cared for our dad really well and made his last few days as comfortable as it could be. They also looked after us a family and showed compassion towards us at a very difficult time.

A young Dr called Tom explained  to our dad and the family in a clear and honest way about what to expect at the end stage of our dad's illness - he was professional and kind, which my dad really appreciated.

The care my dad received has restored my faith in the NHS, which was a result of excellent and exceptional nursing and medical care .

Hi Boabster72

I am pleased you and your family had such a positive experience when your dad was admitted to ward 17 under difficult circumstances. To hear you were all treated with care and compassion and that your dad appreciated the clear and honest talking from the doctor is indeed heart-warming.

I will pass your appreciation on to the Senior Charge Nurse and staff in Ward 17
