"Lincoln county hospital"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I was booked in at Lincoln county hospital for a cataract removal operation,

The surgeon was absolutely first class as was his support staff, the issue I experienced was because they had someone else's medical records with the same surname as mine, they then had to send a taxi to get them from Louth hospital some 26 miles away so I had been at the hospital since early morning and finally got taken down at around lunchtime.

If the records had not been present the procedure would not have gone ahead and I had booked 2 days off work, one for the op & one to recover. l would not have been paid for these days so it would have been most inconvenient. That said, the surgeon was top class and seemed to be as frustrated with the mix up as I was, the support team was excellent and once underway, the procedure took about 20 minutes and you get a cup of tea and biscuit afterwards. 👍

Dear Cat Aract

Thank you for taking the time to comment on Care Opinion.

This is not what we expect to happen for any patient. Your notes had been requested from Louth Hospital in anticipation of your procedure taking place and unfortunately they had sent the wrong notes. As you state it was the same surname as yourself. Once this was noticed the correct notes were then sent over to Lincoln by taxi.

Apologies that you had to wait longer than we would have liked but I am pleased to say your procedure went ahead as planned. Many thanks for your positive comments regarding the surgeon and the support staff. I will pass on your comments to the Team.

Kind Regards

Colette King

Dear Cat Aract

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that we did not have the correct medical notes which contributed to a delay in your procedure and understand that this must have been frustrating. I will share this issue with the team so that we can avoid this happening again. I will also ensure that they are aware that you were happy with the care of the team and that the procedure did not take too long.
