"Prolapsed bladder"

About: Glasgow City Health & Social Care Partnership

(as a carer),

I attended SPHERE bladder and bowel service in Eastwood Health Centre and was seen by Sister Gillian.  I can’t praise Gillian enough for the excellent care I received she went above and beyond my expectations. Gillian put me at ease right away as I was feeling quite low, anxious and embarrassed about my condition.  Before I was examined a note was taken re symptoms etc. I felt very comfortable during the examination as Gillian made me feel relaxed and at ease.

My prolapse was graded as a 2 and was then prescribed a hormone cream called ovisten to use nightly for 2 weeks and then twice a week.  Also given pelvic floor exercises to do 3 times a day and an app to use called Squeezy was suggested, which sends alerts when exercise is due and keeps you on track. The results were amazing.  Really can’t stress that enough.  I attended two more appointments with Gillian and filled in a diary of bladder and bowel habits over 3 days.  My pelvic floor is strengthening with the hormones and exercises and won’t need to be referred to gynaecology at the hospital.  If I have any problems within the next year I could make another appointment with Gillian without having to go through my GP.  This was a fabulous service.  Thank you NHS from a very happy patient.  Maybe more excellent nurse led clinics is the way to go.
