"Fabulous care and professional attention"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance Victoria Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I experienced a crushing pain in my chest area while playing golf. I stopped playing and travelled home. The pain did not stop and my wife insisted we contact NHS 24. This led to an ambulance being called which arrived in 20 minutes.

The ambulance guys were really professional and friendly, and l immediately felt l was in safe hands.

I was admitted to the Cardio ward right away and the care was again excellent and reassuring. I was kept in overnight and moved to a recovery ward in the early hours. I was offered tea and toast at 3 o’clock in the morning!

Fabulous care and professional attention.

Thanks to all the staff at wards 21 and 23 Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy. I didn’t realise the nhs could be so good.

Hi Derek615

I'm sorry to read of your situation. This sounds like a really worrying time. Good on your wife for insisting you contact us here at NHS 24. I see we arranged an ambulance, so clearly our staff were concerned enough to take urgent action. The ambulance crew sound great - paramedics are so fantastic:)

The care from Victoria Hospital sounds fantastic too, therefore I'm sure they will be delighted to see your story.

Should you wish to share any further detail about your call to NHS 24, it would be great to hear from you. When you feel up to it, perhaps you could contact me on 07814 299944 or email Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

Further detail would enable me to share your story with our staff who managed your call.

I hope you are back on the golf course soon, honing your birdie and eagle skills!

Take care meantime.

Shona
