"Long wait for emergency treatment"

About: New Cross Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a carer),

I attended the A&E department at New Cross in August at  9:30pm.  I have major health problems that run in my family that include blood clots heart problems/failure. I went in with severe stabbing pains in my chest specifically on the right lung.

I waited a short time for triage to see me and had an ecg and other low level tests no bloods etc. I have severe shortness of breath and increasingly shallower breaths and am worried I may have a clot on the lung as it runs in the family.

I was told that even tho I could barely breathe I had to wait 9 and a half hours to be seen. I'm sorry but there is information out there that there's a shortage of doctors due to funding not being available but still I see constant building works etc going on.  The funding apparently isn't there for specialists doctors and nurses etc but still for buildings and improvements. I don't believe these are as important as saving peoples lives - their lives continue to go on.  Maybe its time that the great NHS got its priorities back into order.

I have returned home still in agonising pain after not being treated and told to come back if it continues to worsen.  I find this simply unacceptable. My partner is fully aware of what has happened at the hospital and is not either happy or impressed at all with how I have been dealt with.
