(as the patient),

I had a hip operation at Stracathro Hospital at the start of August 2023. The service I received from all members of staff was excellent. Immediately after my arrival at the hospital, Karen, a nurse on my ward, completed all the relevant forms.  I was informed of the various procedures involved by  Dr Littlechild, my surgeon,  and the anaesthetist. Both reassured me and answered my concerns thus reducing any anxiety that I might have.

After I was taken to the theatre, Donna, the pre and post recovery anaesthetist assistant, had an enormous talent for making me feel at ease. The operation was successful and I returned to the ward.

 All the staff in the ward throughout my stay demonstrated a high level of care, ensuring that my needs were addressed. I have to mention Moira , one of the Health Professionals on the ward, whose attention to detail of my needs was exceptional. Her positive manner and happy demeanour lifted my mood. Rachel the Occupational Therapist had a good listening ear and gave me confidence for my journey to recovery when I returned home. The physiotherapists ensured that I was well informed regarding the necessary exercises that I must do regularly at home, to ensure a full recovery.

My post operative care was fully explained before my discharge and today I received a phone call from Sarah, a nurse practitioner, as part of my post operative care, which reassured me that I still have contact with the hospital should I require it.

In conclusion, I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to all staff involved in my care at Stracathro Hospital. Their dedication to duty is absolutely outstanding.

Thankyou so much for taking the time to give us such lovely feedback. We do strive to ensure our patients are well informed and cared for during there stay with us from admission to discharge however its always good to hear when this has happened.
