I have ongoing concerns about my consultant psychiatrist (in NHS Grampian south Aberdeenshire area mental health team). I have only had two 15 minute telephone appointments with them in more than 1 year. This would be ok, if they were helpful, but for me, they are not.
I have longstanding complex mental health conditions and need changes in medication and reviews of diagnoses. As I see it, thay have failed in their responsibilities as a psychiatrist to do either of these things. The first time I spoke to them , I felt that they had not read my past psychiatric history. Changing to a suitable medication has been an unnecessarily convoluted process. In the end, my GP practice has had to sort it out.
The psychiatrist has, I believe, made a wrong diagnosis, and is unwilling to alter existing diagnoses. They also repeatedly suggest that I should do Qi-Gong, which is unhelpful and fills up much of our consultation time. I have asked to change to a different consultant, but the response has been confusing.
I would still like to see a different consultant at an in person appointment.
