"The staff shone brightly"

About: Victoria Hospital / Admissions Unit 1 (Emergency Medical) Victoria Hospital / Respiratory Medicine

(as a relative),

Dad had been getting put from pillar to post with his Dr's.

However, we went to get CT Scan results. My word, the consultant Jen was amazing. She seen with her eyes the distress both Dad and I were in and assisted us promptly. He was admitted to AU1 and was treated well them moved on to Ward 43 of the Victoria Hospital.

It was here that 2 members of staff shone brightly. From diagnosis of terminal cancer to the end was only 12 days. I am not sure of their titles but let me tell you. . . Without a nurse called Mandy and the charge nurse I think, called Will, we might not have survived what we faced. What a pair. If only they could be duplicated. Their manner, their compassion, their wit and their general presence was definitely just what the Dr ordered not just for Dad but for us as a family. We thank them dearly.

Dear The daughter,

Thank you for sharing your experience of your admission to the Victoria Hospital. I am sorry to read of your Dad's diagnosis and passing but glad that your experience as a family was positive.

The approach of the 2 members of staff you describe is wonderful to read. I will ensure that your feedback is shared with Will directly. I am not familiar with a nurse called Mandy in Ward 43 but will discuss with the Senior Charge Nurse to ensure that your feedback is shared with her, as well as the rest of the team.

Kind regards,

Dale Simpson, Clinical Nurse Manager (Ward 43)
