"Home visits for my elderly mum"

About: Community Nursing / District Nursing

(as a relative),

My elderly mother had a fall at home in April'23 and needed her wound attended to. The District Nurse care team took immediate action after my initial early morning phone call and since then their professionalism and care for my mum has been of the utmost standard. They came twice a week and ensured that appropriate dressings were prescribed and delivered. As her daughter who had been caring for my mother I felt reassured and I no longer felt that I was alone. The nurses provided the appropriate contacts for me to call at any time night and day seven days a week and assured me that it was no trouble. Their cheerfulness and care for my mum was of invaluable support to me.

Dear Olliek66,

My name is Julie Fitzpatrick and I am the Interim Chief Nurse for East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership.

I am sorry to read that your mother had a fall earlier in the year. I am very pleased to read of the care and support that the District Nurse team provided for her and that it has made a difference to you both.

I will pass on your feedback to the District Nursing team who will be delighted to read that their care has helped your mum and providing you with the assurance you need, both for the appropriate dressings and the contact details for help and support.

I would like to add that the East Renfrewshire Carers Centre provide information, support and advice for informal carers like yourself and they can be contacted on 0141 638 4888 and they have a website to refer to https://www.eastrenfrewshirecarers.co.uk/ to give you an idea of the support that they can offer.

My best wishes to you and your mother

Julie

Thankyou Julie for your response and good wishes for my mum, a confirmation of the high standard of care. I would like to mention Angela in particular who, like all the nurses, was so helpful and kind in her concern for my own well being as well as mum's.

My best regards to you all.... a fantastic team of district nurses 👍😊

Thank you very much and I will certainly make sure that Angela knows you found her to be particularly helpful and kind. It is such lovely feedback and we are grateful to you for taking the time to also post this. I know the standards of care your mum receives will make an important difference to you and your peace of mind too. Our warmest regards.
