I had undergone complex surgery (12 hours) at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary to remove a Sarcoma in my gluteus muscle.
Due to the amazing team at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary headed up by Mr Gupta and Mr Fairbairn the operation was a success. Also Dr Vohra’s team at the Beatson provided amazing support throughout.
Post op, I required a high level of community care. The district nurses have been looking after my well-being and wound since my operation . They have been exceptional. I would give all their names a mention but would be afraid I left anyone out. This is still ongoing and is overseen by Una, who, with her team, have provided me with post operative care that is second to none and supported me through a very difficult journey.
I just can’t praise them enough for being there when I most needed them, including out of hours.
Overall the care and professionalism has been outstanding. I am so grateful to all of the NHS team from nurses to consultants who have saved my life and supported me through a very difficult journey.
