"Very overcrowded down in the ED"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department Craigavon Area Hospital / ENT and Urology inpatient West 1

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I arrived on Sunday night at 12.15am, I was left in the ambulance until 5am until I was taken to a bed in the ambulance triage. It was very overcrowded down in the ED and just an absolute nightmare. I must say the staff are all lovely and do a really well done job. I would say it is hard to get the nurses attention on the ward though, but I understand they are extremely busy and under pressure. The communication is very good, the staff do their very best day in day out. The facilities are okay, my Tv is good and toilets are kept well, however down in the shower room there is no mirror to be able to shave. I have asked a member of staff for a mirror but was told they didn't have any. My wife brought be up one of my own from home. I would say the food comes at very erratic times, some days it may be 12.30, 1. 1.15.  I am just used to having lunch between 1-2pm usually.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your time in 1west. Our housekeeper has asked estates to put up a mirror in the shower room and ordered more individual shaving mirrors for patients to utilize.

Wishing you well on your continued recovery.
