"All the staff have been so friendly and helpful."

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Rapid Assessment and Care Unit (RAC) General practices in Ayrshire & Arran

(as a service user),

I had been suffering with very tight and swollen ankles following a total knee replacement. I contacted my local surgery (Bourtreehill Medical practice) and was given a call back from the nurse practitioner within 15 minutes. I was then given a face to face appointment within a couple of hours. The nurse practitioner was very thorough and very helpful and was concerned that I may have a deep vein thrombosis and therefore referred me to the Rapid Assessment & Care Unit at Crosshouse Hospital.

I was seen immediately upon arrival at the Rapid Assessment & Care Unit and an ultrasound scan was booked for half an hour later. Thankfully the scan showed that I did not have a DVT, it was just fluid build up. I was so grateful that I did not have to go to A&E and I was seen so quickly upon at arriving at Crosshouse. All the NHS staff have been so friendly and helpful.

Dear SpanielMum

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your health care experience. I am so sorry to hear of the issues you've been having with your ankles following your knee surgery. I am so pleased you received such timely care and support from your GP Practice and also the wider services at Crosshouse Hospital following referral.

I would be delighted to share your comments with Bourtreehill Medical Practice. All of our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from their patients on the care they have received.

I wish you all the best on your recovery.

Kind regards

Marie
