My husband took unwell with what we assumed was simply a stomach upset last week. After 48 hours of attempted self care at home it was clear he was deteriorating quickly and I prompted him to contact the GP.
We have only just moved to the area in the last year so this was our first (emergency) experience of Mearn Medical Centre and we cannot thank Dr McEleavey for seeing my husband within 30 mins of speaking to him on the phone, his diligent assessment, and dedication to my husbands case when he called him later in the evening to check on him, and swiftly referred him to the Surgical Assessment Unit at QEUH that night.
Once at QEUH, we watched nurse Joan work tirelessly tending to every patient in the unit as my husband stayed in the unit overnight till a bed was available on the ward.
Dr Ramesh was back and forward assessing every admission and within an hour of my husbands assessment he had arranged CT. Additional thanks to Radiographer Kenny and all the other imaging staff on shift that night, and had results to exclude any sinister or immediate surgical concerns.
We are currently 3 days into inpatient care on Ward 9C and all staff have been incredible - particularly nurse Sam.
As an NHS staff member myself; I am so proud, and thankful, for the care my husband has received and eagerly await his discharge when he is well. Thank you!
