"NIAS response and excellent care for my son"

About: Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / First responder paramedic

(as a parent/guardian),

In mid July, my son had a RTC (road traffic collision), no other vehicle involved, Emma a paramedic arrived in response car initially and her care to my son was excellent, her assessment was thorough, calm and professional, he received Entonox (gas and air), and IV pain relief.  She was pleasant and friendly and calm putting both of us at our ease and providing reassurance. Her colleagues Allan and Sean arrived in ambulance and he was stabilised for possible spinal injury and transferred to Antrim ED. I just want to say a big thankyou for a great service, care and professionalism, they were all great with my son and turned a stressful situation into a positive care experience.  I don't know their surnames but hopefully this can be passed onto them.

Good afternoon Rosxh79

I am grateful to you for taking the time to share your experiences of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. It was reassuring to learn of the professional manner in which all of the clinicians responded to the call in what is a very stressful and traumatic situation. Additionally, the ease that was brought upon yourself and your son through such professionalism of the clinicians via reassurances given throughout the entirety callout, from the scene until arrival at the emergency department at Antrim Area Hospital.

I would like to share your feedback with the clinicians who attended to you on the day and in order to locate them I would require the following information:

Date and approximate time of the incident

The address the ambulance was dispatched to

If you are happy to share this information I can be contacted at ruairi.cummings@nias.hscni.net
