"Community Stroke Team"

About: Specialist Therapy Services / Community Stroke Team – South Notts

(as a carer),

We've had such good help from all the girls.

When my husband got home from hospital someone rang us straightaway. I was doing a lot more then, it was really hard.

We saw Leanne and she gave him lots of balance exercises and now he can play golf and go bowling again.

Margaret came several times and gave him work for speech and it has really done the trick. He only struggles when he's tired now, before it was all the time. She also told us about Aphasia Nottingham and listened to us talk about how hard things can be with recovery and when the talking isn't so good. She's so lovely. She listened to me as well as him and that helped me work out how to look after myself so I can look after him.

Jayne came and did an assessment and now he can drive again and that is just wonderful - I don't enjoy driving.

We can't thank them all enough - they are lovely lovely people and have helped so much. We miss their visits and wish them all the best with all the other people they are looking after.

Dear Keepingfit,

Many thanks for taking the time sharing your experience with the Community Stroke Team. This is wonderful feedback and I will pass this on to the team, specifically Leanne, Jayne and Margaret whom you have mentioned.

Your feedback is very important to us to know and is much appreciated. It is imperative that that our patients, families and carers let us know how well / or not we are doing in order that we shape the delivery of services to become as patient /family/carer centered as we can.

I'm glad that the team were able to support you and your husband and we wish him a continued recovery and all the best for the future.

Thank you so much.

Claire Lee
