"Messed up appointments"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as the patient),

I booked a referral for an audiology appointment at Arrowe Park. But it was for a date I couldn't make, so I was advised to phone the booking office for another appointment, only to be told I was double booked and that one was cancelled and to be told another one would come in the post.

Ok fair enough, a week later the appointment still hadn't come through and I phoned the audiology department. I was on hold for 20 minutes the first time, only to be transferred the first time and then cut off halfway through the conversation. I then ring again, only to be on hold for another 20 minutes. I ring back not 5 minutes later only to be told that there is no appointment come through and I can't be seen by the audiology department even though I said that I cannot hear because both of my hearing aids need repairing as the moulds have split and they irritate my ears.

I was told that I couldn't be seen by them as they aren't under their care. And that I need to be seen by Specsavers or Scrivens when they couldn't help me last time and I had to be referred back to the audiology department in 2021 when a similar situation happened. But I was eventually seen by the audiology department and they repaired my hearing aids.

What I don't get is why I have to be referred every time and why can't I be a permanent patient at the audiology department. I'm not going to suddenly hear again. But this time they keep messing me about, I'm going back and forth to the doctors and hospital and they are both telling me different things. They need to be better at communicating
