"Helpful and understanding staff"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I had an operation to clean out infection and sort stoma.  Ended up staying in for 2 weeks after the first operation went wrong and had to have a second one.  At all times the nurses and auxiliaries were very helpful and understanding and helped keep me at ease when further procedures were needed.

I was then dealt a devastating blow when an unexpected death in the family happened in another area of hospital. At all times the staff were caring and understanding but the wait our family had to endure for the movement of the body we found disgraceful. We were continuously told a porter was on their  way but they never appeared. In the end I asked for a porter to be booked to return me to day surgery and that one arrived BEFORE the one booked for my relative which did not help the parents at all.  I will leave them to comment on their views at another time.

Returning to my stay.  I must thank all the nurses who dealt with me. I am not great for remembering names so I include the following for special mention (but I know there are a few more that I cannot remember their names);

Meghan, Linda, Niamh (student) Rebecca (student), Isobel. I can still see the others it’s just the names I cannot remember

Dear Idle

Firstly thank you for taking the time to provide some lovely feedback on your stay within Day Surgery, I am delighted to see everyone was helpful and caring and were able to put you at ease, it is always a stressful time coming into hospital but I am happy to see the staff helped alleviate that stress for you.

Secondly please accept our condolences for you and your family, I am sorry to hear about the issues that were faced regarding waiting time for a porter.

I wish you well in your recovery

Kind regards

Mandy and DSU team
