I attended Glasgow Royal Infirmary recently to have a breast tumour removed. From arrival in the Same Day Admission Unit, to discharge from the ward, my care was exemplary. The staff member who welcomed me to SDAU was so reassuring, the staff of Nuclear Imaging were incredibly kind and patient with me as I was scared and distressed by everything I was going through. Recovery ward staff again, so kind and reassuring, and I'd like to single out my nurse from Ward 63/64, Nurse Shaheena, who was so cheery and comforting, an absolute credit to the staff.
The only issue I had in my experience was that I had received no written notification of my appointment, no leaflets, nothing at all in writing to tell me where to attend, what time to arrive at, and what would happen on the day. I had a gynaecology outpatient appointment and received a letter and leaflet, and three text reminders, yet nothing about my inpatient procedure.
Thank goodness for the high quality of staff caring for me, who had to guide me through this scary and bewildering experience. I can honestly say that I felt I was in the best hands throughout.
I would like my thanks to be forwarded to all staff involved in my care - from SDAU, Nuclear Imaging, Anaesthetics, Recovery and Theatres, and Ward 63/64. Exemplary, every one.
