Attended paediatric a&e for 2nd night due to unmanageable temp and worsening chickenpox (turned black) I was anxious as had previously been sent home with temperature management advice therefore was afraid of being a time waster. Also anxious as ibroprofen given to bring temperature down & Google is a scary place when you search ibroprofen and chicken pox.
The nurses were lovely and reassured me straight away I was better safe especially with a 7month old baby. He was prioritised once triaged & for the 1st time ever I seen the importance of triage... He was quickly seen by a&e Dr and then paeds Dr Julian attended very soon thereafter he was brilliant & a treatment plan was put in place. He explained everything to me & made sure I understood his concerns. I felt great relief that I was listened to and that they were taking such good care of my son.
