My husband was admitted via ambulance to Stoke Mandeville hospital in July.
We thought he was suffering from an atrial fibrillation attack (AF) which is not uncommon due to his heart disease. However, the problem seemed to originate from a potential stroke. He got admitted to the ‘resus’ area where he was closely monitored and seen regularly by nurses and a consultant.
The staff were all incredible - very caring and patient. Once it became clear that it wasn’t AF and his heart was fine, due to my husband’s severe confusion and memory loss, the doctor on call, Dr.Goycul, very calmly took the tests to the next level.
A CT brain scan was performed. Everyone was patient and caring. Dr Goycul stayed beyond his shift to assure us that the news was good. No sign of a stroke and we could go home. A TIA was the best possible explanation. My husband recovered his memory.
A huge thanks to all the staff who helped us during an extremely stressful time
"Everyone was patient and caring."
