About: Dermatology / Dermatology Outpatients

(as the patient),

I received a letter to attend the clinical photography department, in the dermatology unit of Ninewells hospital. The letter advised no appointment necessary and highlighted that Perth Royal Infirmary was closed some days in July. When I got to the Ninewells clinic I was advised that it was a public holiday and the department is not open, this was not highlighted on the letter.

Firstly on behalf of the Clinical and Dermatology teams I would like to apologise for your inconvenience, when you attended Ninewells Dermatology Photography department, then being told it was closed due to be a Public Holiday. I also would like you to know that since hearing about your story we have since changed our practice.

In future the letters sent out to patients will state when the department is closed due to public holidays. In fact we are looking at putting the list of public holidays on the letters sent out so that it is clear to all patients. By doing this we hope to avoid this situation occurring again.
