"The care and compassion shown to us was outstanding"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department Wishaw General Hospital / Paediatrics wards (19 & 20)

(as a parent/guardian),

Our daughter was admitted to University Hospital Wishaw and after some initial tests we were told she had type 1 diabetes.

While we were upset by this news, the care and compassion shown to us and our daughter right from the front door through to ward 19 & 20 was outstanding. Even after a long day and roller coaster of emotions, my daughter told me that everyone was so kind.

We would particularly like to thank Dr Charlotte from ED, Kara the dietitian and all the nursing staff within wards 19 & 20, who really are angels.

The biggest thanks has to go to Dan from the paediatric diabetes nursing team, who helped prepare us with everything we needed to know to get our girl home safely.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback to the team in ward 19/20.

We strive every day to ensure our young patients and their family are looked after as if they were our own and it is such a boost when we receive such a positive response.

It is great to hear your girl is getting home and doing well and that as a family you are reassured.

Thanks again

Jane x
