"Fantastic, above and beyond care"

About: Queen's Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I have just had my first baby and my first experience of being an inpatient at Queens Hospital, Romford.

The care and compassion of all the staff in the Diabetic Midwife Team, HDU Unit and Coral Ward for postnatal care was absolutely phenomenal.

I felt safe and secure, listened to, looked after and I could ask any questions without fear of it being silly.

The staff were incredible and a credit to the hospital and the NHS. I am profoundly thankful to them all - especially Nikala who works in the postnatal coral ward and who was a nightshift Angel to me and my baby boy. He took to her instantly as did I for her kindness and expertise. She sat with me whilst I cried, held my son whilst I got myself to the toilet post c-section, explained about swaddling/burping/feeding/anything I needed.

She was so kind that it kept me so calm and I am sure it is one of the reasons for why my recovery was so strong and successful.

I cannot thank her enough along with all her fantastic colleagues on Coral Ward!

They are quite simply life savers!

They deserve everything good, positive and successful in the world.

I will be forever grateful.
