"Felt like I wasn't taken seriously"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde

(as the patient),

I've been unhappy with the service for a while, however today takes the cake. I had to call three times and wait on hold for tens of minutes just to talk to a receptionist, who I feel didn't take me seriously and was rude to me all because I missed what they said (I was crying and delirious with pain).

I feel the doctor I talked to then didn't take me seriously enough when I was in agony, and didn't ask to see me or refer me to any service. I was sobbing and begging for anything. They prescribed me decongestants and diagnosed me with what they called a nose thing, which did nothing to help me understand why I was going through it so badly or what I should do about it.

Thanks goodness for my pharmacy being nice to me while I cried in pain. 111 staff, nurse and doctor were all very nice as well, and I'm getting steroids to help my infection in the morning.

Dear Purpleystrange

I am very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your GP and that you have been left feeling dismissed and upset.

GP practices in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde operate their own feedback and complaints systems and are not registered to respond to feedback received via Care Opinion. Therefore, can I suggest that you contact the Practice Manager to discuss your concerns about their Practice?

If that is something you might find difficult to do there is an independent service called PASS (Patient Advice and Support Service) who can help you to give feedback, raise concerns or make a complaint about any health service, including GP practices. It is free and entirely confidential. You can contact PASS on 0800 917 2127 or visit their website at Patient Advice & Support Service | Citizens Advice Scotland www.cas.org.uk

I am glad that the Pharmacy and NHS 24 were able to help and that you are getting steroids to help with the infection. I hope you feel better soon.

Take Care

Nicole
