"Treated with respect , dignity and without judgement"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Trauma and Orthopaedics

(as a parent/guardian),

My son ,who has very challenging behaviour issues ,was an inpatient in Ward 220 recently for hip surgery.I would like to thank the nursing ,medical staff and all other members of the multi disciplinary team who cared for him with compassion, empathy and professionalism.

He is very difficult to manage at the best of times and post-surgery confusion made the situation immensely challenging for all involved in his care. Each member of staff I spoke with kept me updated and were very reassuring .

Please pass on my sincere thanks to all in ward 220, in particular Kirsty, Kayleigh and Tracy whose support helped during a very difficult time for both myself and my son.

My utmost thanks also to Mr Patton (Orthopaedic Surgeon) and Dr. De Beaux (Anaesthetist) who facilitated his operation (which required a great deal of forward planning). At all times he was treated with respect , dignity and without judgement. Thank you .

Thank you for taking time to write this feedback for us. I will ensure it is shared with the team who will be pleased they were able to make a difficult situation a bit easier for you all.

I hope your son continues to make a good recovery and once again thanks.

Michelle

Thank You Michelle, it really was a worrying and difficult time for us all as a family. I would just like to make sure that all the staff are aware that we are indebted to them for the care he received to ensure his safety and recovery. It is not an easy job, I know ( having been a nurse myself) and can appreciate how trying and unpredictable his behaviour was whilst in Ward 220. We are truly grateful.
