"My experience of being admitted to Lincoln county hospital"

About: East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance Lincoln County Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I’ve had chest pains on & off for sometime, I tried to get to see my own GP but due to the announcement on the recorded message ( we have a staff shortage at this time please try later) I tried later and on the following day to no avail. On the Wednesday I felt worse with stronger chest pains, at which point I phoned 111 and explained my symptoms, I was told to rest and they would send an ambulance which arrived within 15 minutes. I was fully examined and told I would need to go to hospital, excellent service. The downfall came as my previous text comments when I arrived at Lincoln A&E.

Once I arrived on the short stay cardiac ward things improved dramatically with the excellent care by all the nurses on the ward. I was improving up until Friday when I had another very severe chest pains once again the nurses gave excellent care and did so all the following week. My worst experience was total lack of sleep by all the noise from other sick patients shouting out in the night to some of the night nurses talking loudly.

Overall an experience I would not like to have again, as once they have you it’s a job to escape, it takes hours to get in and hours to get out, but thankfully I’m still alive to tell the tale, so a big thank you to all concerned look forward to my further recovery at home.

Dear Nusancepatiant

Thank you for sharing your experience with East Midlands Ambulance Service. I'm sorry to hear that you have been so unwell and hope that you are making a good recovery.

If you are able to send the date, time and location for your 999 call to emas.pals@nhs.net, our Patient Experience team can identify the staff that were involved in the EMAS ambulance response to your call and share your praise with them directly.

Your words will mean a lot to my colleagues so I will ensure that an extract of your experience featuring our response to your call is included in our staff magazine for others to read.

Once again I do hope you are making a good recovery.
