When I was discharged from the RAH in Paisley last year after my kidney stone operation I was told that a shadow on my pancreas had shown up on the scans that were done. This had been an incidental finding and the hospital would be back in touch with me shortly for further investigation.
Within a few days a consultant from the upper GI at the RAH called my mobile and this started a series of different tests in four different hospitals. It turned out that the shadow was a neuroendocrine tumor and I was then transferred to the Glasgow Royal Pancreatic Clinic. I had an operation last September to remove the tumor, spleen and part of the pancreas.
I am now back to full health and feeling great and I would like to thank all the staff at Gartnavel and Stobhill who were fantastic but especially the RAH and the Royal who went the extra mile in the care and support that I received during the whole process. I have had follow up appointments at both the Royal and the Beatson who were also fantastic.
Again I would like to thank all those wonderful people who looked after me and gave me care that was second to none.
