"So very supportive"

About: Grantham & District Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

The whole team were so very supportive.  Every single member of staff were absolutely brilliant. (Namely: Student nurse Johnathan and Trainee Louise, all the Nicky’s, lovely Welsh lady Karen. All staff in Theatre. Night staff and dinner ladies. . Superb and genuine level of care). I was very impressed and i’m not easily impressed! Nothing was too much trouble to help us all on the ward, even after their very, very long shifts. Their consistency of care was outstanding.  They were marvellous, understanding and patient. I am forever grateful, especially to Johnathan, and Louise- you helped me more than you know.

I understand the increasing pressures on the NHS, and the effects of limitations, but personally I feel post-op physio could do to be longer,  to rehabilitate and build confidence for patients who undergo major surgeries, affecting mobility drastically.  Myself and a number of other patients felt very vulnerable in that respect, though the physio team were great, could have used more guidance and time in the regard ideally, but that is probably out of their hands.  All in all, i won’t be as nervous if i am there for my 2nd op. My heartfelt gratitude to you all!

Dear Bevelicious

Thank you for these truly amazing comments and I will share with the team as their morale is boosted when they are mentioned in someone’s journey, as it makes them feel they have done the best job they can do to make your experience the best we can offer. the students and Trainees especially are really grateful for feedback as they are on their journey to be qualified nurses and this assures myself as matron and them that they are delivering the care we want them to be giving to our patients.

With regard to physio we have a plan in place for the physio team, who now work within our team on the unit, to stay for longer and this is work in progress and will happen very soon,so that we can cover more hours and later discharges, but thank you for raising that as it helps me with my business case and I will share this with them as well.

I hope you are recovering well at home and we look forward to your second visit

KR

Julie
