"Getting a coil fitting appointment"

About: Sexual Health Services - North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (Open Clinic)

I requested to have a coil fit in April 23. I was advised by my doctors that they no longer offer the service and that I needed to contact sexual health. I called sexual health who advised that they had no appointments and that I needed to call back the following week. This happened several weeks in a row until I eventually got a telephone consultation booked. The telephone consultation got cut off so I called straight back to be told that I’d lost my consultation and needed to start again, calling each week.

In the end, I had a friend in the NHS to secure a consultation for me.

The coil fitting appointment was amazing. The doctor and assistant were very informative and friendly and I genuinely enjoyed my appointment even though I felt nervous beforehand.

I would like to apologise for the difficulties you had with accessing our service and arranging an appointment for your initial consultation. We have recognised that our patients are frustrated by the lack of appointments so we have developed a process whereby we will call patients when we have appointments available, rather than ask them to keep ringing back. I hope this will improve our patients' future experiences and your feedback has helped influence this change.
