At 14 weeks old our daughter took unwell
What was happening to her was hard to tell
She was admitted to DGRI & the seizures began
The scariest time ever was when she had an mri scan
She was diagnosed with epilepsy but it was hard to control
It really exhausted the poor wee soul
“We’ll watch her tonight” the wonderful staff said
They’d set us up a room with a proper bed
After months of hospital visits we got the genetic test results and it was a shock
We had a heartbreaking meeting with the Glasgow doc
Now for the part I can hardly find the words to explain
The AMAZING staff who literally keep us sane
Their care and compassion is second to none
From the start through until their shift is done
Mental health is so important and they genuinely keep us sane
Our sunshine through the heaviest showers of rain
From the lovely domestics that have a chat while they do such a thorough job
To the kindest health care support workers who’ve been known to hug me while I sob
To the amazing doctors and nurses who fly through the door when the red buzzer is pressed
The children’s ward staff are quite simply the best!
Visits to hospital are just a part of our daughters story
But as a family we celebrate her progress in all its glory.
