I attended the Day Intervention Unit at Kirkcaldy Victoria Hospital to have a Fistula Plasty to open up the flow of my Dialysis Fistula in my Right arm.
Right from the start, I was dealt with promptly and courteously. Andy welcomed me and kept me informed every step of the way, and made me feel at ease.
After a short delay, I was in the Theatre and was cared for by Yvonne, Emma, Lisa, Jayne, Rachel, Eileen and Zoe. Everyone was so caring, nothing was too much trouble making sure I was comfortable and could see what was happening! Yes, as Dr Bhat started the procedure, everything I could follow on the big screen, as he performed the X-ray guided procedure.
Throughout I was kept calm and reassured, every step being explained or notified of. Alerted to the ‘uncomfortable’ bit prior to happening helped me to cope, which I really appreciated.
All done in less that 30 mins, I was soon back in the DIU and Andy’s watchful eye again - oh and his superb ‘tea and toast’ which was great.
After an hour or so of observation I was free to go. What a great team this is. So kind, cheery and reassuring. No doubt I will need their help again at some future point, so I hope I have the same team again. I really appreciate their kindness and superb care
