I have been having issues with my GI track for 9 months my GP tried various medication to help but all failed to heal my symptoms.
My GP recommended a urgent referral for a endoscopy at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
FVRH endoscopy department declined my referral stating that I had had an endoscopy in 2020 and they felt my symptoms did not warrant a further scan.
My GP referred me to NHS Fife as she felt my symptoms required investigation and was frustrated at the lack of action from NHS Forth Valley.
NHS Fife carried out an Gastroscopy within 3 weeks of the referral and thankfully NHS Fife did, as the scan revealed inflammation in my stomach and duodenum that required immediate treatment.
NHS Forth Valley let me down when I needed them.
The culture of, you have been seen before so I don't feel you need further investigation is toxic in certain departments and is putting people lives at risk.
Whilst I recognise the pressure on services has increased greatly, patient care should not be compromised.
"They felt my symptoms did not warrant a further scan."
