"Friendly and chatty"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Surgical Skin Team

(as the patient),

I had an appointment in the ambulatory unit for a biopsy on 2 leg sores.

I was called at my appointment time by David, who immediately put me at ease with his friendly manner. The two other staff were in the room, another nurse and a trainee paramedic. Both friendly and chatty.

David explained every step he was going to do and told me the anesthetic would sting and boy he wasn’t joking!

Thankfully It’s over quick and David immediately started to take the biopsy. After that he put a few stitches in both wounds and a dressing. I felt nothing.

It was a really quick procedure made easier with David’s jokes and stories, which I really appreciated  as it took my mind off everything else.

Later in the evening I took two paracetamol as it was a bit sore but today it’s fine, slightly uncomfortable at times but that’s all.

I’m very grateful to the staff in our hospitals, it’s not an easy job and they’re worth their weight in gold!

Thanks guys!

Dear HeilanLassie,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Sorry about the Jag...at least I'm honest!

It is great to hear that my wittering away distracted you from the unpleasantness at hand.

I keep expecting someone to tell me to wheesht at times:)

Your kind words will be shared with the team.

Thanks again

David
