"Hopefully being able to help The Pain Clinic"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Day Surgery University Hospital Wishaw / Pain Management Clinic

(as the patient),

I attend the pain clinic in Wishaw University Hospital & have done for over 9 years, I desperately need Lignocaine Treatment which is administered every 6 weeks which greatly helps reduce my pain levels.

I was very upset to find instead of having my treatment downstairs in a room which was used for us we had to go back to Day Surgery. This was so disappointing as compared to how it was setup downstairs, we were spread out & could not talk to one another as obviously other patients were coming out of surgery & we had to be quiet.

I strongly believe that having people that you can talk to about pain & understand it helps everyone. The other patients who all have different illnesses but have the need of strong pain relief, bond together & it's like a therapy group.

We all agree that if somehow we could get moved to another room (small room would do) being able to communicate with one another would be beneficial to all of us.

Our Doctors James & May are excellent as are all of our nurses, especially Donna-Marie who have proved themselves to be truly wonderful & go above & beyond for all their patients.

I understand that you cannot magic up extra rooms but please remember that sometimes it's not just the medicine that helps the patients but the other patients around them going through similar things.

What I would love is simple, a room set aside for Lignocaine Patients every Wednesday.

Thank you for reading this & hopefully being able to help The Pain Clinic

Dear Karin234,

Thank you for sharing your experience of the Pain Clinic at University Hospital Wishaw.

I am so pleased to hear that your Doctors, James and May, and the nursing staff including Donna-Marie are excellent support for you during your treatment.

I am sorry to hear of the issues following the change of room and that you are now not able to chat to the others under the same treatment.

To allow us to further understand this, and provide a more personal response, could I ask that you contact Patient Affairs at University Hospital Wishaw.
