"Great, witty staff on the ward"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Elective Overnight Stay Centre/Gynaecology Ward Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I came up to ED on Friday evening after getting bit by a spider on my leg. When I came up to ED I checked in at the desk and waited a long time to be triaged. When I went up to the desk to check what the hold up was, my name wasn’t put on the system to be triaged. Once it was brought to their attention, I was triaged and seen right away.

I was kept in for monitoring and admitted to female surgical. The staff on female surgical are excellent, everything has been fantastic. The staff are all great and very witty. They have good banter about them which is very refreshing. The food is spot on, couldn’t fault it at all. The ward is great! Always clean and beds changed daily. Female surgical has been excellent.

Dear author

We apologise, it sounds like your information was not uploaded so the triage nurse did not know you were waiting. I have shared this story with the administration/clerical team manager who will inform her staff of the learning. We hope you are recovering well

Kind regards

Paul Smyth

Head of ED
