I arrived on time and was shown to the relevant department by a nurse. Within minutes I met the consultant, Dr. Poutter, who examined my hands & asked about my general health before explaining exactly what my options were, i.e either surgery or O.T. He sent me for new x-rays on the site. Again I was seen quickly and then returned to see the consultant and x-ray results. It was pointed out that there had been major deterioration of the joints. I was shown the type of silicone replacement joint that would be used if & when I decided on surgery. I was then introduced to the O.T. who showed me various aids that are available, gave me a pair of thermal support gloves & showed me a series of beneficial exercises.
The O.T. Esther then discussed other measures I could take to show the deterioration of the joint problem & arranged a follow up appointment. Though this visit all the staff were professional, explained in detail and made my appointment a very positive experience. Well done NHS staff.
"My appointment was a very positive experience."
