From the minute my mum was admitted to ARU4 she was given wonderful care from every member of staff- big shout out to staff nurse Niamh - she is a treasure. Every test possible was different be to determine the root cause of her acute and debilitating pain. The consultant said no stone was left unturned
Today a doctor we found to be extremely arrogant delivered the diagnosis. They were rude to the nurse who was in the room. They talked over my mother, who is in her eighties, and had neither empathy nor compassion. I feel they are a disgrace and in my opinion needs training in order to feign empathy as I very much doubt it is in their character to have it naturally. All I know is that had I not been there to support my mum she would have been even more distressed than she was.
The other staff afterwards did all they could to reassure and comfort her. They are busy enough without having to compensate for the inadequacies of a medical professional.
Such a pity and disappointing!
"Disappointing experience"
