"The NHS at its best."

About: Ninewells Hospital / Acute Stroke Unit Ninewells Hospital / Medicine for the Elderly Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

My father in law suffered a stroke this week. From the start of this experience his care has been incredible. The 999 ambulance arrived within 5 minutes, he was whisked to the stroke team where a consultant was waiting for him at the door. Swift assessment and thrombolysis followed. By the time we got to see him 24 hours later he was fully recovered. The staff on the ward have been friendly and helpful and the FY1 (Dr Lang) doctor took time to talk to us in detail about his care to date. Fantastic team, we are all so grateful. The NHS at its best.

Dear Marigold73

Thank you for sharing your story.

It must have been a very worrying time for you all so it is heartening to read that your father is recovering following the swift actions of NHS Scotland.

If you would like me to pass on your thanks to the ambulance crew may I ask that you contact our Patient Experience Team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, Care Opinion name, your father's name and the address and date we attended.

Kindest regards

David

Dear Marigold73

Thank you for sharing your experience with us and for your feedback which will be shared with the nursing and medical teams in the Stroke Unit. I'm really pleased to hear your father in law has made good progress and wish him well as he continues to recover. This was clearly a stressful and worrying time for all of you and I'm so pleased that your experience of care and services has been so positive.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact us and we all wish your father in law and family well for the future.

best wishes
