"My sons speech and language therapy"

About: Bromley Healthcare / Speech and Language Therapy for Children

(as a parent/guardian),

I asked my sons speech and language therapist to reassess his speech and language needs as I feel he is not getting adequate therapy sessions. Their response was just to let you know the outcome will be exactly the same as the current recommendations already in place. I found this unbelievable, how do they know this when they haven't completed the reassessment.

Although my son can use language, he is classed as non verbal by the professionals, he is Autistic. The recommendations at present for SALT is 9 session per year and these 9 sessions allocated include time for report writing, preparation, documentations, observations of my son and training the staff who teach him daily. I know children who are much more verbal than my son and are getting many more sessions per year- I find this is absolutely unbelievable. Must getting the professionals to send the support they need, always involve making a complaint, going to tribunal or going to the ombudsman’s. Our lives are already very difficult trying to care for our children with a SEND, why give us more unnecessary pressures and strains to deal with.
