"Patient experience"

About: Victoria Hospital / Supported Discharge Unit

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I would say the showering facilities are not up to standard.

The buzzer to enter the ward takes ages to be answered the majority of the time.

Compared to the newer part of the hospital, the Supported Discharge Hub is like a totally different hospital. I would give it a 3/10.

I was wakened by staff arguing at the main desk at 5.45 am.

The food is good with a good choice.

I found some staff rude and others very nice.

I appreciate the staff who looked after me, but felt some were on a power trip.

Dear littlelizzie

My name is Siobhan McIlroy and I am the Head of Patient Experience. NHS Fife welcomes all feedback, so thank you for taking the time to post on Care Opinion. I am sorry for the delay in you receiving a response.

I am sorry to read that you are dissatisfied with the facilities and the noise from the entrance buzzer not being answered in a timely fashion. That must have been very annoying.

I am also sorry to read that you were woken with staff arguing and that you found some staff to be rude. This is not the expected standard of behaviour we expect from our staff and I am sorry that this is your experience.

Your story will be shared with the team for reflection and learning. Thank you for being so honest with your feedback and for sharing your story.

I hope you are recovering well. Take care and best wishes, Siobhan.

Dear littlelizzie,

Thank you for taking the time to post on Care Opinion and I am sorry that your experience has not met the standards that I would expect from the team in the Supported Discharge Unit.

I would be keen to discuss the concerns that you have raised in more detail so that I can address these with the team. It would also be helpful to learn of any improvements that you feel would improve the patient experience in the unit.

I would appreciate if you could contact either myself on 01592 643355, ext. 28248, or SCN Lisa Herd on ext. 28648.
