"Spinal Surgery - amazing care"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66) Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Theatres, Recovery and Anaesthetics

(as a service user),

After emerging spinal surgery 6 weeks ago I unfortunately required to have further surgery.

Every single member of staff I came into contact with were so friendly & helpful. I had only ever spoke to my Consultant Mr Hassan via telephone & found it lovely & reassuring he came to see me in theatre to introduce himself.

All the staff from ward 63 to theatre were professional & provided amazing care, I always felt safe & in good hands. I want to mention Michelle (Specialist Nurse) from first meeting her to now she has provided me with support, reassurance & listened to me when I felt things didn’t feel right.

The NHS is extremely busy & I feel folk can be quick to criticise. It was clear when I was an inpatient in ward 63 the staff were ran off their feet & I’m sure they didn’t get proper breaks but that did not impact on patient care.

I always felt well looked after & the staff took time to interact with their patients & nothing was rushed.

Thank you to everyone involved in my care, I appreciate all of your hard work.

Dear CaR66,

Thank you so much for taking time to detail your experience within Ward 63. Receiving positive feedback from our patients means such a lot to our teams. Our teams take pride in delivering person-centred care such as you received, and I'm delighted to hear you had a good experience and I will share your lovely comments with Mr Hassan, Michelle and Ward 63 team.

I hope you are recovering well from your surgery, and once again thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Kind regards,

Pamela (Philp)
