"Incorrectly sent for an appointment"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Outpatients North Devon District Hospital / Rheumatology

(as the patient),

I had an appointment at Barnstable hospital, I was told to go to hospital for rheumatology, where I go fairly often as I have osteoporosis.

I had a letter to say I had to go, when I got there, I saw a member of staff who asked why I was there? I showed my letter, and they replied that they didn't know why I'd been sent as they were a physiotherapist. They were very nice but nothing to do with me. They asked me if I'd asked to go there, which I hadn't, I just got sent the appointment letter. So, I wasted my time and paid for a hospital car and it was all a waste of time and they didn’t want to see me.

They said it must have been a mix up from the computer.

I wasn’t very happy, I went up there on a false errand, wasted my whole afternoon, to get there and have them say why are you there? They were very nice though.

I’d ring my GP to ask them about it but it’s impossible to get through to my GP practice.
