About: Maternity care (Wards 47, 48 & 50) / Labour suite maternity Maternity care (Wards 47, 48 & 50) / Maternity care (Ward 50)

(as the patient),

I was induced at the maternity unit at QEUH Glasgow and went in to labour in the early hours of the morning.

All staff were fantastic from admission to discharge. I can't remember all the names because so many people ended up involved when I had to be taken in to theatre for delivery due to complications.

The midwife who looked after us, Alexis, was so professional, kind, and kept the whole experience calm despite the complications. We will always remember the treatment we received from her, what a lovely person and a fantastic midwife!

All the team were great, kept good humour, which was very much appreciated and helped ease the stress, while knowing I was in safe hands of people who were very good at their jobs.

I wish I could remember the name of the anaesthetist and another member of staff who were especially fantastic. Up in the ward afterwards, our nurse, Sharon was brilliant, as was the student nurse on the nightshift, Lauren. Even the domestic staff were great, always having a chat as they were cleaning, makes a big difference to your day.

We are so grateful for the professionalism, warmth and kindness shown by all! Thank you!

Dear Hjam,

What a lovely, kind post to read on a Friday afternoon! Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your birth experience here at the QEUH. I am so glad that you encountered such professionalism, warmth and kindness from our team and I am incredibly proud of the care which they all provide.

I will ensure that your gratitude is fed back to Alexis, Sharon and Lauren and to the full team who were able to ensure you felt safe and well cared for during your care. Keeping good humour and chat are so important to making each woman feel welcome and well cared for.

Thank you again.

Gaynor
