"Made to feel comfortable and relaxed"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Day Surgery Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter attended for a procedure at ward 32 today. Due to unforeseen circumstances they could not accommodate day patients and had to transfer them to the Day Surgery Unit.

My daughter is deaf, and attending these appointments can be very harrowing for her due to the wearing of masks etc. I cannot thank the team that dealt with her enough. From the ward staff, surgical team and consultant, everyone who came into contact with her today. Each and every one made her feel comfortable and relaxed, taking care to remember her disability.

This is not what she has been used to, it therefore came as a delightful surprise.  We would especially like to mention and thank the day surgery team, Maggie in particular who went above and beyond.  Well done to this team, we really appreciated it.

Dear Dippygit,

Thank you for taking time to share feedback with us about you and your daughter's experience of attending the day surgery Unit at the RAH. I'm delighted to read that your experience was so positive and that our staff provided such a high degree of professional, sensitive and person-centred care ensuring your daughters' needs were fully recognised and met. I am sorry to learn this has not always been your experience and wish to reassure you that we strive to provide accessible, person-centred care for everyone who needs and uses our services, whilst recognising that we have more work to do on this.

I'm sure the team will be delighted to receive your feedback and I'll ensure it is shared with them.

Best wishes,

Lisa Martin,

Patient Experience Public Involvement Manager.
