I’m trying to phone the Parkinsons nurse to cancel an appointment that has come though for my husband who will not be able to have the telephone assessment appointment because he is in hospital, recovering from surgery and experiencing post operative delirium. But I cannot get through to talk to someone. Even if my husband was available to answer the phone, he wouldn’t be able to answer any questions or have an assessment. When I ring the number on the letter the phone line is dead, and the only other number on the letter is the Care Opinion phone number.
He’s been in hospital at the Cumnock area rehabilitation centre for 7 weeks. I’m trying to cancel this appointment so it doesn’t go against us the next time.
The Parkinson’s nurse is part of the NHS, Ayrshire and Arran health board. the letter for this appointment came through a few days ago.
The appointment letter says it would be helpful if you could contact our appointment management team, and the phone number given is the Care Opinion number and the other one is a dead line, so there is no way I can get in touch and it’s really challenging, I’ve got enough to worry about with my husband.
I’ll have to take the letter to the nurse at the hospital and ask if they can maybe manage it there. I’ve done everything I can to try and tell them he won’t be able to have this appointment, but I’m stuck now. I think there needs to be a number on the letter that I and others can easily ring to let them know if someone cannot have this appointment.
