"Nutrition nurse was wonderful"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Dietetics (Diet and Nutrition)

(as the patient),

Been having problems with my PEG area, long story but finally got to the place I needed to be in ARI for an appointment with the Nutrition Nurse.  The nurse was new & her name was Amy, she was wonderful,  I'm not great with other touching my PEG I've had it for appx 10months, still coming to terms with it.

Anyway Amy was lovely all the time telling me what she was going to do & if it was alright she did it, from taking photographs to show Consultant to checking the area & placing a dressing on it. Afterwards Amy gave a good explanation of things for me, answered my questions & gave me contact number if I have further problems where I can leave a message. So thank you I know how busy & challenging these times are for the NHS but it was lovely to feel like a human & listened to.

'Thank you for this wonderful feedback. I’m sorry it has taken so long for you to get an appointment with the nutrition team but it’s good to hear that when you did it was helpful and person centred.

Amy is a delightful new addition to the team and your kind words brought a smile to her face when she received them. We know that a PEG can be tricky and we have tried to find as many different ways to help people learn how to come to terms with it, which is why feedback like yours – letting us know what’s helpful – is really valuable for us.
