On my way back from work, I decided to walk into the surgery and book an appointment to see my GP. The staff member seeing to patients for Elm practice was on a call, so I had to wait.
When they finished, they called out and asked how can I help you, from the middle of the room where they were sitting. I asked them to come closer. They reluctantly did. I spoke to them, and they took my name, returned back to their seat, and called out again, asking for my date of birth.
I said to this staff member, you can't be asking for my date of birth from across the room, you need to come closer. They came closer, and I said it's wrong of you to ask for my date of birth from the middle of the room, this is against Data Protection. They said yes, but there is no one here.
True enough patients were not around at the time, however, other staff members were, which still makes it against Data Protection.
This is very wrong and should be addressed.
It could be that they require more training.
Not happy.
